I Got Mine!

Posted in Package at 8:51 pm by knitwhimsies

My hard work has paid off! I got my package today from my wonderful partner Meaghan!

The items came wrapped in numbered packages to heighten the suspense!

4 skeins of Blue Sky Alpaca yarn (how did you know I’m a sucker for alpaca?!), bamboo needles, point protectors, and The Knitter’s Bible Knitted Accessories book. She picked the Magic Mitten Gloves for me. I absolutely love the pattern and am currently fighting the urge to shove my other projects aside and start this right away.

She said that the yarn colors screamed Autumn to her, they do to me as well! :)

Thanks Meaghan, I love it!!

Woo Hoo!  Part II of my mystery package arrived from Cabe.   I received a travel book entitled Scotland Magazine which is where Cabe is from.   Again, a mindreader Cabe is, because just the other day I came across Stitchaway Tours and it looks like they are planning another trip to Scotland next year called the Wild and Wooley Scotland Tour.  Imagine that!  I would so love to go.  I also received a mini book of Winter Warmers by Knit Today.  Very cute stuff!  And last but certainly not least…. Nicky Epstein’s Fabulous Felted Bags….The bags in this book are so gorgeous…..!  Thank you again Cabe so so very much!!  I love everything!!  Thank you !!

I just wanted to let Kim know that her package was waiting for me last night when I got home at 2 AM from my football game!  It is completely lovely and I’m working on getting a camera from my friend today so that I can post pictures.  And my package is going in the mail to her today!

ETA:  I got the camera and made a big post in my blog.  Read all about it! http://mainefan1.livejournal.com/92134.html

One more thing…

Ok, I am waiting for something that is supposed to arrive today in the mail.  So it shows via the internet tracking.  Soooo, once it arrives I will arrange my package and get everything all packed and ready to go.  I will send it out on Monday from work since I work near the airport and can hit the airport post office.  All the packages I’ve seen so far look great.  Can’t wait to see what kind of reaction mine gets.

And also…I am finally on Ravelry…screen name is Dreemgypsy.  See you there!

Coffee!

Posted in Uncategorized at 7:03 pm by morsie

I received a fantastic parcel from my partner Kim (phoenixascending) today.  My theme was coffee.

My project is a Basket Lattice Cap to be made with a skein of O-wool Classic in a gorgeous chocolate brown… organic merino :D (along with Crystal Palace bamboo DPNs and some cable needles).

This is a great pattern for me.  I like the look of the hat and it will definitely give me the opportunity to learn new knitting skills.

Other goodies include:  a coffee mug, some Moonstruck chocolates (Cafe Mocha Collection – Italia Espresso Truffle, Cinnamon Roll Latte Truffle, Moccatine Truffle, Italia Cappuccino Truffle – drool), The New Complete Coffee Book by Sara Perry, and a notebook with a cool hawaiian print pirate pattern.

The best part about the whole package is that Kim offered to help if I have problems with the pattern (’cause I probably will ;) ).

Now I only hope that Kim likes the goodies I picked out for her as much as I liked the ones she picked out for me!

My parcel arrived!

I got my presents yesterday!

Yup, Geraldine, my swap partner, sent me an amazing package of things all the way from Ireland. I have photos of the stuff, but most of them are too dark to really showcase the good stuff I got. I’ll showcase a few:

New additions to my stash
This is the yarn that came with the rest of my goodies. Some of it is cotton (the multi-colored Tivoli brand, and the red), while some of it is wool (the blue is merino(!!) and the Regia is superwash for socks). The colors are all great–the sock yarn is bright and silly (what? I’m not silly—stop smirking). The others are just right, too.

Geraldine included a pattern for a tea cozy (the theme of my gift was “tea,” you see), and for a scarf.

But the gifts didn’t stop there–no siree bob! I got a RED whistle with a sheet of practice music, tea towels with teapots & cute tea art on them, chocolates, treats for the Beast (he LOVES them), an adorable cloth with a paw print knit into it (here it is:)
Pawprint
notepads, bookmarks that are also calendars (how smart is that?), postcards of artwork held in the Irish Museum of Modern Art (I think I got the name right–I don’t have the brochure with me), a sampler of teas from Revolution Teas (I love them!), tea biscuits (delicious dunked in tea…trust me, I know), and (phew–that’s a lot) a special face mask with tea tree oil in it to make my face glow.

All of that came accompanied by a lovely note from Geraldine. I love it–I’m so glad we were paired for this swap!

Thank you Geraldine! I love it all!

In the post…

Scene: Post Office, interior. Woman struggles to the front of the queue carrying an enormous padded envelope, plus handbag and another parcel.

Post Office Employee: Can I help you?

Woman: I’d like to send this to America please.

Post Office Employee: OK, pop it on the scales. What does the package contain?

Woman: Erm, yarn, and stuff.

Post Office Employee: (confused) Yarn and “stuff”?

Woman: Yep.

Post Office Employee: You can’t put “stuff” on a customs label!

Anyway, the Post Office won and I didn’t write “stuff” on the customs label, but the parcel is in the post! It should be with you in about a week Karen :)
